They say that a lot of things are passed down through generations, like Property, Cultural Ideas and sometimes even Hate.
The Christopher Columbus’ statue located at North Boston has been reportedly found beheaded and this historic representation will be removed by – 6/11/2020, said Mayor Marty Walsh. The CBS Boston times had reported the beheaded statue on Wednesday as the crime scene occurred overnight and it is not yet revealed if the statue would come back to its original position or not.
At first glance it does seem disrespectful to a man who seemingly ‘Discovered America’ to have his statue head ripped off its body, however several critics upon interview had shared their negative views over this pioneer and they even identified Christopher Columbus to be part of several violent acts along with genocide of the large scale Native Americans.
The United States has recognized the day America has been found as a public holiday since 1937 although several people might say otherwise and they have even titled Columbus to be a ‘Racist’.
This is not the FIRST TIME for a vandalism of this sort to happen, in fact it has even occurred in 2006 and 2015 where Columbus’ statue has been found beheaded or spray painted with the text that says, “Black Lives Matter”.
Mayor Walsh has given no confirmation for the statue’s return and later he added, “That said, this particular statue has been subject to repeated vandalism here in Boston, and given the conversations that we’re certainly having right now in our city of Boston and throughout the country, we’re also going to take time to assess the historic meaning of this action.”
People’s frustration over generations have clearly been depicted through this vandalism and it’s truly fascinating to see how far people are willing to go to give their predecessors some justice.
